The Land of the Incas, or what's known as modern-day Peru, is a dream come true for historians, adventurers, and photographers. The country is not only beautiful, it's chock-full of ancient architecture from the peoples who once inhabited it.
The Nazca Desert
The Nazca Desert is a world famous stretch of dry land near the Pacific coastline of Peru. You'll recognize the name thanks to the Nazca Lines, which are ancient, magnificently huge drawings. Airplane tours are available.
The Amazon River
The Amazon River stretches through the northeastern parts of Peru, and most travelers will begin a boat tour starting in the city of Iquitos. If you choose to travel the Amazon River in Peru, you'll be able to visit natural reserves, butterfly farms, and more.
The Sacred Valley in The Andes Mountain Range
The Andes also stretch throughout Peru, and within them is the Sacred Valley. This valley was home to the Incas, and if you have even a slight interest in the history of the region, the archaeological remains here absolutely must be seen.
